Australia’s most LGBTQIA+ friendly city
ACT Labor is proud to have led the way on progressive movements over the last three decades.
We have worked hard to make Canberra Australia’s most inclusive city. In 2017 we proudly recorded Australia’s highest YES vote in the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey. We have protected the rights of intersex people and banned gay conversion therapy. Andrew Barr is Australia’s first openly gay first minister.

Healthcare not handcuffs
ACT Labor is leading the nation with progressive drug reform, listening to the experts and recognising drug use as a health issue – not a criminal one.
So that's exactly what we're doing. We've decriminalised the possession of personal use quantities of a range of illicit drugs. And instead we'll ensure drug users get the heath support they need.
In an Australian first, our fixed-site health and drug checking service is helping reduce the harms associated with drug use.

Always fighting for Territory rights
After decades of campaigning against discrimination, it was Labor that restored territory rights.
Yet, the conservative parties still think that Canberrans deserve less than other Australians.
It’s clear that the Liberals will keep trying to undermine the rights of Canberrans – on any issue, at any time.
