Trailer and caravan rego savings for Canberrans

Canberrans who own trailers and caravans will save $150 a year, with Labor committing to reducing registration costs for all trailers, caravans and campers from 1 July 2025.

With more families travelling closer to home, Labor will support them to enjoy their camper trailers and caravans year round.

Labor's plan will also support tradies and local businesses with trailers by making registration for commercial trailers cheaper.

We know that some households are doing it tough right now, and that’s why we’re helping tens of thousands of Canberrans with their everyday costs.

For some households with an average single axle trailer, their annual registration will be complete free.

The new discount for double axle trailers commonly used by tradies and other small business owners will be reduced by more than 40 per cent.

Under Labor’s plan to reduce registration fees, around 5,000 registered trailer and caravan owners will save hundreds of dollars over the next four years.

From free 3-year-old preschool, free public transport on Fridays, up to $500 for local apprentices, covering the cost of school expenses, a Chromebook for every public-school student, free healthcare close to home, Energy Price Relief Rebates and now cheaper caravan and trailer registration - Labor will continue to look at ways to reduce the cost-of-living for households.

It’s part of our progressive, practical and proven plan for Canberra.
