School is back and ACT Labor is leading the way.

School is back for 2023, and that means every Canberran public school student in years 7-12 will receive a free Chromebook.

Yvette Berry, ACT Labor Minister for Education says "ACT Labor believes in providing equitable access to the tools that students need to learn. This ensures that irrespective of family circumstances, every student has an equal opportunity to actively engage in their education.”.

In 2016 we promised to make sure that every high school and college student would have equal access to the technology to support their learning. In 2018 we delivered on that promise giving over 17,000 laptops to ACT public school students.

For over 5 years now, ACT Labor has been leading the nation by ensuring access to technology for learning will not be an educational barrier in the ACT. We are the only jurisdiction in Australia to do so.

“ACT public schools were well placed to respond quickly to the impacts of COVID-19 because of the ACT Labor Government’s commitment to ensuring students have devices and internet access to support their education,” Andrew Barr said.
