Our inclusive, progressive and connected city

12 October 2018

Two years ago, Canberrans chose progress and they chose a strong Labor Government to make the Canberra we love even better.

Over the past two years, we have achieved much: we’ve successfully expanded our nurse-led Walk-In Centre network, and opened a third public hospital at the University of Canberra, ensuring Canberrans can get the healthcare they need, where and when they need it.

More bus rapid bus routes have been established and light rail is nearing completion.

Our Budget is back in balance, and our economy is Australia’s fastest growing. Our unemployment rate is the lowest in Australia and more Canberrans are working than ever before.

As our city continues to grow, we’re investing in the services Canberra needs for the future. But we’re also delivering a more inclusive, progressive and connected Canberra.

We’re sharing the benefits of our prosperity; we’re open to change and facing challenges with optimism; and we’re making the most of the opportunities in our region and the world.

From funding the Safe and Inclusive Schools Initiative to the opportunities that 14 weekly direct international flights bring us, Canberra is an inclusive, progressive and connected city.

We’ll continue this work during the rest of the Parliamentary term and beyond.

Whether it’s leading Australia in action against climate change, creating good, secure jobs for all Canberrans, or delivering record investment in our cycle ways and footpaths, Canberra will reach its full potential.

Together we have worked with the community to make the Canberra we love even better. We’ll continue to do so to deliver our remaining commitments, as well as tackle new challenges and opportunities for our great city.
